I am partner in a small restaurant and pub group in Cumbria. The Duckworth arms would not be my choice but my very elderly parents enjoy it and we go sometimes on my visits to Bury . The service is very pleasant and willing if slightly undertrained. The beer is very well kept ,pub is warm and kept very well. The food is standard pub 'fayre' with some imaginative touches. The daily set menu is very good value.Food is quickly and well presented. For service, value and good traditional food I believe this well managed pub compares very well with any chain competition in the area.

Just wanted to add a more up to date review as I think since these reviews there are new landlords who seem to have improved the pub no end.

We are regulars at the Weds night pub quiz, and have been for the last couple of years. The food is great in my opinion, better than most franchises, and it's pretty good value. Drinks I feel are quite expensive but probably on a par with most pubs these days. They have a great bunch of staff working there who go out of their way to accommodate you, and we feel really at home there! As I said the managers are brilliant and always trying different things which is good to see.

Nice looking pub, used to be good a year or two ago, now that J.W.Lees have taken over the food has dropped in quality, and this fresh food twot they talk about, cooking most of the menu in huge batches a few days in advance and then microwaving it to order is not what i call fresh!
