The Depot is fun in the evening and nicely relaxed at lunchtime. If you are lucky enough to have a window seat, the view over the river is pretty spectacular. Lovely location in a smart courtyard is matched by smart but homely interior.
Fixed menu is super value and variety across the menu is good. The food is very good and portions are always plentiful- overall great value for money. It used to be extraordinarily expensive...
Service can sometimes be slow- and when its slow, its very slow.
But otherwise a really good restaurant. Personally I believe its at its best at lunch sitting in the window.
Recently went and really enjoyed it. Have been going for years- its alot better now than it used to be.
I went years ago to the Depot - it was good then but it's even better now. The food was great and they've had the decorators in so it's more stylish than before. I wish I lived round the corner, I'd make the Depot my regular haunt. Cool staff too.
We've just had wonderful food at this little jewel of a place on the river in Barnes. The Depot is quite a discovery. I was really impressed with the cooking and ambience. I had the best main course which was red bream with cray fish risotto.
It was just yummy, and the almond and pear tart orgasmic! We loved The Depot and will be back for more.
I've just eaten scallops, moules and pear and almond tart at The Depot and am so bowled over with the food that. I thoroughly recommend it. I loved the whole experience at The Depot - the ambience, the friendly knowledgeable service, the great setting and the food.
I'm definietly going again and if it's anything like as good as yesterday I'm in for another treat.
The Depot is an attractively decorated, spacious restaurant with great views over the River Thames. However, our experience of the Depot was ruined by terrible, slow service and a rude, unapologetic waitress. Even when busy, a restaurant of this calibre should be up to scratch to cope with basic needs like drinks (this took over half an hour) and steak knives (these arrived about 10 minutes after our long-awaited main!). The Depot do great food but at these prices, they need to invest in good staff with a better attitude to their patrons.
Nice off street location. River views with window table. Bare pine furnishing. Parking in side streets. Up market bistro style food, wine and prices. Nice staff but service can be slow. Worth a visit. More fun at night.
