I have never experienced such an attitude from a restaurant service ever.... As we stepped in the door they "welcomed" us with a joke which was not in a good taste. This coming from a waiter - owner (my conclusion was that this person was an owner, because an employee with such manners would not be kept by reasonable owners). He showed his displeasure at the fact that my friend did not order wine (she was on antibiotics)... When we started to order and I let him know that I have nut and soy allergy, which normally is not a problem even in very casual restaurants, it looked like it was a major issue for him.... We did not continue the experience and went to spend our money elsewhere. No wonder that there were only about 4 people in the restaurant. If you want to have a nice evening out - AVOID this restaurant!
We had driven past a few times and took the mother-in-law for some late afternoon birthday food. I am not usually a complainer and even left a tip. but where do you start?
The service was awful. A young late teenage well to do lady with a sarcastic smile took the orders. In between flirting with a few six form boys at the bar. She acted like she was the owner's daughter. Spoilt and patronising in a "I'm from a well to do background, don't you know, sort of way"
When the food came it was ok (3 star at best). We were advised at the bar to pay-up in advance of our meal. Which I did on my debit card. The girl informed me that if I wanted a suite I could look at the suite menu later. We decided to stay for a suite but only ordered two. This came to under £10 and I was then told by the patronsing girl behind the bar that I could not use my card for the transaction, because it was under £10.
I know I am waffling but this place will never survive the credit crunch unless it hires new staff and develops a friendly atmposphere , rather than a pretntious eastern european VIP club atmosphere.
very disappointing
Went for fathers day. Bad drain smell as you walk through the door. Table booked for 7.15pm. went to bar at 8pm to ask if table ready. Got a smiley face "sorry" at 8.10pm and our order was taken. Fillet steak was £18 and over-cooked. Not once during our meal did anyone ask us were our meals ok. Service was awful and slow and I wouldnt even rate 1 star only the rating wont accept less. Never again
Absolutely terrible!! The service was awful, the lady who showed us to our table was the most unfriendly lady I have ever been unfortunate enough to come across, in fact she was bordering on rude!
The food was quite reasonable but not for the price. I have most definitely had better and will not be visiting Olives again!!!
A big improvement since under new management. Pizzas are the best we've tasted! Friendly, helpful staff. Would recommend.
Although it doesn't sound like a child-friendly place, the Olive Bistro has a great kids menu that my children love, it's actualluy my favourite place to take them.
