Visited Manchester for the first time over the weekend and had the unfortunate experience of speaking to the DJ playing on Saturday night (10 April). He was incredibly rude, talking over me and a female friend, and even suggesting my (mixed) group of friends go somewhere else. At point he even become confrontational, including leaning over the decks to come up to my face. The reason for this? Because we requested ONE song.

So we did leave, and I told the bouncer at the door what had happened. His reply? He laughed and said 'well, thats the DJ'.

It seems other people writing reviews on other websites are having exactly the same experience with the DJ being rude.

Someone needs to have a word with the DJ about this attitude, because he is costing the Northern paying customers at the end of the day.

We at The Northern always aim to please and answer criticism fairly and honestly when it occurs.

We charge a nominal door entry every Thursday (as we are open until 3am), Friday and Saturday (we open until 4.30 am) and we endeavour to inform all customers if we are busy or ticking over prior to entry.

We have had complete lock outs each and every weeknd evening since the beginning of this year, and also are complimented regularly for our diverse choice of music by our seemingly happy and regular customer base.

As far as not allowing groups of men in, if there are large groups (6 or more) and they appear to be over zealous then they may be turned away, other than that theres should never be a problem and I would advise anyone having a problem gaining entry to contact us via our website e mail and we will investigate.

As far as Apotheca is concerned, I have to say it is an excellent bar - but we are a pub with a dancefloor and serve food....works very well for us and our loyal customer base...Can't please everyone after all!

This is one of the best pubs I have been to. The food is better than some restaurants that I have been to and the music is awesome. The people are really friendly and i'm never dissapointed when I go.
