We have visited PAPA Gs several times since January and it has become a firm favourite with us already. Good food, good service, great atmosphere. really like the Greek influence and reminds us of holidays in Greece. They also have a decent house red available. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Visited the restaurant a couple of weeks ago before an event at the M.E.N.. the welcome we got was excellent, and were seated very quickly even though it was busy.
Food was lovely apart from my lamb kebab, that was a tad chewy if I am honest, but other than that everything else was great. (i am sure the staff would have corrected this, but unfortunately we were in a rush to get to the event)
Prices were fairly expensive, considering the simplicity of the food (lamb chunks on a skewer and chips with a bit of tzatsiki - £14+).
The staff were very attentive, took the order quickly and delivered the food quickly. So much so that we were asked if we were enjoying the meal 3 times by 3 different members of staff..

Had an enjoyable meal, would have given 4 stars if not for the chewy lamb and price of a main meal.

I went to Papa G's a couple of weeks ago with two of my friend's from university. My friend Maria is Greek/ Cypriot and recommended we tried Papa G's, as she frequented this bar regularly, and spoke highly of both the food and the service. I have to say i was not disappointed. We were warmly welcomed on reception and shown to a table straight away. The food was absolutely perfect. We shared a mezze platter to start, and all the food was delicious, especially the aubergine balls. I had the lamb for main's, and the meat practically fell of the bone it was so tender.
The service was excellent, our waiter was very attentive and couldn't do enough for us.
I cant wait to go back, and would not hesitate to recommend this bar to others.

Just returned from an evening meal at Papa G's. Absolutely fantastic. Both the meal and the service were exceptional. The Chicken Caesar salad and bar-b-que chicken pizza were delicious. We have been on numerous occasions both at lunchtime and in the evening, we have always been served with a smile and efficient waiters.
If you are going to the MEN for a concert I recommend you go to PapaG's before or even afterwards it will help to make the night a complete success.

Went as part of Groupon deal, so much cheaper than full price. Only reason for not giving 5* is the price, as can cost quite a lot when totted up.

Food 5* - no complaints, all hot, all delivered timely, all cooked well, all very tasty.
Service 5*, attentive staff, chatty knowledgeable of menu product, never kept waiting, always busy and hard at it.
Ambiance - 5*, nice greek music played throughout.

Flat bread (£5.45 per 2) is very nice but it means you are having 2 starters and paying for it. Great on the deal tho'

All starters nice; ribs (one rib but huge with lots of meat and sauce on it) excellent.

Mains - Kleftiko very nice; Souvlaki (skewers) also good, with chunks chips, all good.

Didn't try desserts as too full, instead the offer gave us liqueur coffees and as 1 of our party didn't want they allowed us to have hot chocolate instead at no extra cost.

Would recommend just for the staff being so nice (took order without writing it down, very confident).

Without the deal you would likely spend £30 a head.

My husband and I dined At Papa G's on Saturday night. Since having two children we don’t get out much so when we do we insist of having a great time!

Needless to say we both had a really good night.

It was such a refreshing change to find a restaurant offering a different type of cuisine rather than the normal curries, chinese, pizza and pasta.

We both loved the meze starter in particular. Very authentic!

We will definitely go back.

Come on? Worst hoummus you've ever tasted. Do me a favour! If you compare it to shop bought stuff from the supermarket then yes it does taste different. But these guys are Greeks! I think they know what hoummus is supposed to taste like? And the manager's reaction was probably one of disgust but he still answered you politely. This is a fantastic restaurant on every level. It's relaxed, stylish with friendly staff. And that's without commenting on the food! I have had (along with my girlfriend) whilst I have dined there; flatbreads with dips (including the hoummus which was delicious), mixed platter where everything was bursting with flavour and delicious - and clearly freshly cooked, beef stifado - one of the nicest meals I have ever eaten, moussaka - really unxious and warming, lamb kleftiko where the meat fell off the bone, so much so I barely used my knife and fork! I could go on. Bottom line, the food is authentic, fresh and amazingly tasty. The 'secret sauce' on each table goes with literally anything. They should sell the stuff it'd be a hit. But that's the thing with Papa G's Grill and Bar, it's all about the food. They're not interested in commercial nonsense like the majority of food places in the Printworks. I beg you to go back and have a re-think as Papa G's Grill and Bar is fantastic and at least deserves a second chance - not that one is required. If I'm in Manchester shopping or whatever, I always stop by Papa G's and will continue to do so. The staff are polite, know their stuff and nothing seems to be a problem for them. The manager deserves a pat on the back as he runs a slick restaurant and is always extremely friendly. Try Papa G's Grill and Bar, whatever you order, I guarantee it will be very, very tasty!

I also had the pleasure of visiting Papa G's this weekend to celebrate a friends birthday. At first I was a bit dubious about what to expect, as many of the chain restaurants in the Print-works are renowned for their microwaved meals. However, I was soon reassured when the first lot of nibbles arrived. Bread and dips were beautifully presented, and tasted amazing especially the aubergine and garlic dip - yummy! I then began to feel adventurous and started to dip in things that I wouldn't normally and my delight were all fabulous. We also tried the spicy sausages which were delicious too. For main course we had a Greek salad served with chicken kebabs - amazing and healthy. Oops, I forgot to mention the big fat homemade chips which my husband loved!
Service was good as waiters were extremely attentive and knew when questioned about the food. The atmosphere was perfect for the occasion and it was nice to see the chefs at work in the open kitchen. I also have to say that the children's library is a brilliant idea, even though I don't have children. I am sure this restaurant will go far as it offers customers the chance to try good Greek food and also offers a range of English dishes for people feeling less adventurous. I will definately recommend this restaurant to others and I am looking forward to returning myself.

Much better than all the corporate rubbish nearby. Good authentic food with friendly staff in a nice setting. Would certainly recommend to anyone for pre or post cinema and will come back when in this part of town. Well done and good luck.

I visited papa g's last week, and I was happy to say that me and my wife had a very nice meal. We started off with the mixed platter, which included very fresh arancini, squid, dolmades, and halloumi. Our mains included a steak that was the best char-grilled steak I have had, and a lovely wood fired pizza. The best thing about this place is the fact that the place is a bargain. A similar platter at one of the rubbish chains in the printworks, would be full of reheated tat. I will definitely be taking a pre-cinema visit here again.

Had to be the most disgusting hoummus I have ever tried in my life, no taste at all. When we complained to the manager he was very polite but the "thanks for bringing it my attention" wasn't really what we were looking for!

In addition to this half of the party had alcohol, the others didn't, two of us asked for still water - a jug was dumped on the table with some scratched childrens stacking glasses, not very impressive.

For 3 x starters (it was 11pm) and 3 x bread & dips and 3 mains it was £100. Don't think that is good value in the slightest I am afraid (especially as those on the alcoholic drinks only had 1 each because we were desperate to leave!!)

A really bad choice of restaurant and i wouldn't recommend it for the food. The decor was ok though.

We visited Papa G's Sunday afternoon for the first (and last) time. There was nothing wrong with the food or the service we were attended to by a very nice helpful English waitress but the attitude of the manager was a disgrace.

After paying both the bill and some compliments we asked the waitress if we could possibly reserve a table for Sat May 1st for 4 people as we were going to see Peter Kay at the MEN and thought it would be nice to dine there beforehand. She came back with the Diary and entered our name and contact details, then 2 minutes later a very cocky manager came up and told us that we could not reserve a table for less than 8 people on a Saturday evening when there is a concert on!!! talk about a slap in the face and greed! do they not realise that there are hundreds of eating houses in Manchester that we can got and be welcome!.

Apparently this place has only been going for a few months and are hoping to expand all i can say is with an attitude like this they will be lucky to be in Business by Christmas!!

I can not comment on the managers attitude but you should know that it is simply common business practise to have a restricted bookings policy during peak times. This allows any restaurant to maximise its potential table turn over and you have to admit that a restaurant is still a business and cant possibly appease everyone. Busy restaurants who have the luxury of having such booking policies should be viewed accordingly, if they are restricting the amount of bookings its generally because they are good at what they are doing. Perhaps before making such negative comments relating to a restaurant you should consider that it is a business and the name of the game s maximising profit not pleasing everyone all the time. For the record I love Papa G's Grill and Bar and don't mind queueing for a table at peak times.

My 9 year old daughter had been pestering me to take her to Papa G's as she knows the owners little girl. I was dubious about eating at The Printworks as they are mostly the usual chain/microwave ding type of eateries. We went before a show at the MEN Arena and Papa G's was packed to the rafters - I now know why. There were 3 adults and 6 children in our party and were seated in a lovely booth next to the window. Me and my sister had the chicken kebab with home made flat bread, salad and tzaski, salsa and chunky chips - it was fresh, homemade, healthy and delicious. My daughter and stepdaughter had the children’s version and they ate every morsel. My younger stepdaughter had mini burgers and her eyes lit up when she saw her food arrive - again she ate everything. My nephew who is 14 and extremely faddy had a pizza and stated it was the best pizza he had ever tasted. The food was freshly cooked and delicious we all cleaned our plates. They have a children’s library and also give children an activity book to keep them amused. The restaurant is child friendly (without being chaotic), stylish, very friendly staff and most of great food - I would definitely go again with or without the children.

I visited Papa G's for a late lunchtime business meeting with two business colleagues. We had a great Lunch, the food was spectacular, what a refreshing change to find a restaurant in the Printworks that really does offer freshly cooked quality food.

Two of us had the pizza with spicy sausage, I know pizza sounds a bit boring but this was excellent, the base was clearly freshly made and the topping was packed with flavour. This has to rate as one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted.

Our waitress was friendly and attentive and was quick to offer recommendations and advice on the menu. We loved the funky bright decor and friendly staff. This will now be my regular lunch venue when in Manchester on business.

My husband and I dined here at lunch on a Monday prior to a film. The decor and furnishings were very very well done.
The place was quite empty but we were told by the owner that it got very busy at weekends.
The menu was not extensive but very good value for a lunch time.

I had Calamari - beautiful batter - my husband had wings, we shared the two dishes and the wings came with a secret home made sauce which was excellent.
My husband's main of Pizza was light and tasty, my main Souvlaki was beautifully moist and well cooked, balanced with a very tasty tzatzini and sun dried tomatoes. and a flat bread drizzled with oil

We didn't have a desert but I would like to return for an evening meal and try the desert menu.

Our waitress was friendly and offered helpful advice on the dishes, the owner stopped to chat and I suggested he could add stuffed vine leaves and whitebait to his summer menu - which he took on board.

My only negative would be to say that I thought the wine was a little overpriced.my husbands post as Newark 76 gave 3 stars he meant to give 5 but it zapped in 3.
We hope to return with friends for an evening meal.
Well recommended

my wife and I dined at Papa G's at lunch earlier this week. The lunch menu offered a variety of food at a good price and the service was excellant. We were impressed by all our dishes and the calimari was particularly good, I enjoyed my lunch pizza and my wife thought her chicken souvlaki was quite good. The owner came by and talked to us for abit and seemed very interested in our opinions about the food and the service. We enjoyed our lunches and look forward to our next visit.

Myself and a party of friends dined on a Saturday evening approx 8.30pm. Firstly I will start with the positives- the venue itself is stunning, great decor and lighting. Thats as far as the positives go. When the waitress seated our party of seven, she tried to seat us on a table, which would have ben more suitable for a party of four It was way too small, so we asked them to move us to a bigger table. So we had another half an hour wait for this table to be ready. When presented with the wine list, we chose the wines to be told they had run out. We selected another bottle and that had run out also. Not a great start.

When ordering the main course, I ordered the moussaka and the waitress told me she thought the kitchens had just served the last one to another customer. So I would have to pick something else. Which makes me wonder whether it would have been freshly made, or maybe just out of the freezer. Two of my party ordered pizzas, they arrived at the table stone cold. They offered to take them away and reheat them. What arrived back was inedible, tasteless, dry pizza. I could have done a better job at home. One other ordered a pasta dish and again, it was dry, tasteless and had hardly any sauce on it. The worst dish was without doubt the lamb salad, the so called lamb- was crispy pieces of fat. I was really expecting a lovely meal, but was extremely disappointed and would certainly never go back.

The attitude of the staff and the manager when we expressed our complaints was quite frankly appalling. It just seemed they weren't bothered and really didn't care that we were really upset and unhappy with the food served.

My partner and i visistd Papa G's on Saturday 9/01/10. We arrived about 4.30pm and the place wasn't very busy but the waitress chose so sit us right next to some couples that were already dining. Very cosy, the tables are far to close together and i found myself whispering!

After ordering our food our starter came after a short wait only for our main to arrive before we had finished our second mouthful of the starter! The waitress offered to take the main away( lamb shank & crushed potato)and 'keep it warm' but we decided to take it off her hands and eat it while it was hot...........it was luke warm and bland.

We decided not to bother with a dessert and had paid the bill and was out of the door by 5.30pm......not the best hour of my life!

We had lunch here with friends and we were all made to feel extremely welcome, we have an 8 month old baby and we were pleasantly surprised by the facilities they offered. It is very rare to find an establishment that welcomes children, has wonderful decor, superb staff and great food cooked very well. A little Gem as far as we are concerned we will certainly be returning.

All we can say is wow, we went in Papa G's before a show at the MEN arena and the experience ended up being the highlight of the night.

Food served fresh, not at all what you would expect from such an establishment within the Printworks. The restaurant itself is stunning, and even has a little kids library.

The place serves the best pizzas I have ever seen, huge considering the excellent price and you can just taste the difference from other establishments that use frozen products.

Our Waitress, Cailtlin was charming attentive and more importantly, genuine which is so rare these days but from the interaction with other staff we got the impression they were all like this.

We will be back, next time we will try the house specials which looked great and our waitress raved about.
