The ViewManchester Review
A commercial, party-time bar in Manchester's theme-park-esque shopping and entertainment complex, The Printworks.
The Venue
Norwegian Blue is modern-looking and spacious with its high ceiling. There's a galleried area above which is good for looking down on the goings on below. It's a popular pre-club bar for a young crowd and gets incredibly busy on a Saturday night, so expect a wait at the bar. The music is a mix of current and classic chart fodder...oh, and it's known as a place to pull.
The People
Norwegian Blue attracts a very young crowd (mainly under 25) and ID is often asked for at the door. The girls usually wear belts as skirts and the guys usually look like their going to audition for a boy band. It’s that kind of place.
The Food and Drink
Lager is around £3.10 a pint and includes Foster's, Amstel, Heineken and Strongbow on tap and there are Corona, Budweiser and Peroni in bottles. Alcopops are popular and are all stocked. If you're hungry they do three types of pizza, but there are plenty of other places to eat in the Printworks complex.
The Last Word
Norwegian Blue doesn't have any other pretensions than what it is: a good-time bar/club to get you in the party mood. But if you're over 30, you may feel out of place.
