When
Sunday 1st November 2009
Where
Manchester City Centre
You often get a few zombies walking around Manchester city centre on a Sunday. Maybe they’ve caned it too hard the night before, or they’ve drunk their own body weight in booze. Whatever the reason, it ain’t a pretty sight. This event gives you the chance to dress up like a proper zombie, blood and all, in order to try and smash two world records, so if you’ve ever wanted to be a world record holder you’ll want to make sure you get down and be a part of Zombie Aid. Manchester shoppers won't know what's going on as they wander round the city centre and witness the bizarre sight of thousands of zombies twitching their way throuh town.
Record Attempt Numero Uno
What better way to spend the last hours of the Halloween weekend than in the company of thousands of other zombie dudes (zudes). To be involved in the first record attempt you need to turn up at The Printworks to register between 1.30pm-5.30pm. The previous world record attempt failed because not everyone had officially registered so this is massively important to the organisers of Zombie Aid. Manchester city centre will then provide the route for the zombie walk, which starts at 6pm, lasts 45 minutes and ends up Dawn of the Dead-style in the Arndale Centre! Sick.
It Takes Two
You can also take part in a second world record attempt at Zombie Aid. Manchester Printworks is again the place to register for this one and any Michael Jackson fans should form an orderly queue as it’s an attempt to beat the record for the most amount of people doing the Thriller dance. If you arrive at Pure nightclub at 3.15pm, you will have time to register and learn the routine before the freaky dancing begins at 3.30pm.
Zombie After Show
After you’ve been part of the world record breaking attempts and had more fun in the Arndale Centre than you could ever have imagined possible, you can head to the official after party at Pure. The Zombie Ball costs £8 to get in and there will be live entertainment from Michael Jackson tribute acts and Zombina and the Skeletones. With drinks starting at just £1.50 you can party late into the night – a fitting way to end Zombie Aid. Manchester Christie Hospital is the nominated charity for Zombie Aid 2, so all of the money raised on the day will be going to a very worthy cause.
